CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER & DIRECTOR OF ALAM ALIRAN GROUP
Born on 19 September 1964 in Juru, Penang, Mr. Balan Agambram embarked on his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 30. In 1994, he established a proprietorship business known as CAKERA ENTERPRISE. The core business activities involved the collection of used metal drums from various companies within the Juru Industrial area, which were subsequently cleaned, refurbished, and recycled for reuse. Additionally, Mr. Balan Agambram operated as a trader in scrap materials.
With over 10 years of experience and involvement in the recycling industry, Mr. Balan Agambram, together with a team of competent professionals, made the strategic decision to elevate the business to a corporate level. This led to the incorporation of ALAM ALIRAN KUALITI (M) SDN BHD on 3rd February 2004. Alam Aliran Kualiti is a recognized scheduled waste contractor specializing in comprehensive scheduled waste management services.
After Mr. Balan Agambram established the first off-site recovery plant, PLANT-1 of ALAM ALIRAN KUALITI (M) SDN BHD, he decided to expand the business further. While collecting scheduled waste from customers (the waste generators), he observed an increasing variety of scheduled wastes with different codes being recovered and processed. Additionally, customers who were satisfied with Alam Aliran Kualiti’s service approached Mr. Balan Agambram to manage more scheduled waste, expressing a desire to continue the business due to the consistently exceptional service provided. They also believed this expansion would help reduce transportation costs by minimizing the need for long-distance transport. Concurrently, the Department of Environment encouraged Mr. Balan Agambram to expand the business to support the Penang Government’s efforts to reduce scheduled waste and promote a cleaner and greener state. After conducting a market survey on scheduled waste in Penang, Mr. Balan Agambram made the strategic decision to open PLANT-2, a chemical-based waste recovery plant and PLANT-3, an e-waste recovery plant. Goes beyond managing companies, Mr. Balan Agambram actively fosters innovation across industries. His pioneering mindset led him to collaborate with Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn. Bhd. to introduce an innovative and offer expert dewatering service for sludge as part of the ‘Short to Medium Term Treatment and Reuse of Water Treatment Residual (WTR)’ project. This forward-thinking initiative demonstrates his commitment to advancing sustainable practices and finding practical solutions for long-term environmental impact. Since the establishment of Alam Aliran Kualiti, Mr. Balan Agambram has cultivated strong and enduring business relationships with hundreds of clients across Malaysia, further cementing the company’s reputation and success.
Over the years, Mr. Balan Agambram has established himself as a successful entrepreneur in the field of scheduled waste recovery and processing, while prioritizing environmental sustainability. He subsequently decided to diversify his business portfolio, leading to the establishment of two new subsidiaries: ALAM ALIRAN CAKERA and ALAM ALIRAN TRADING. The former specializes in real estate ventures, while the latter focuses on trading activities.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Balan Agambram is also known for his philanthropic spirit. He has made generous contributions to numerous government and non-government organizations. He is particularly committed to assisting the underprivileged and marginalized members of society. In recognition of his contributions to both the state and the community, Mr. Balan Agambram has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Pingkat Jasa Masyarakat (2014), Pingkat Jasa Kebaktian (2019), and the Philanthropists Award 2023, presented by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Haji Abdul Razak.
